No Win is Too Small
It’s often quoted that yoga is not about touching your toes, but about what you learn on the way down. -Jhgar Gor This could be said of many exercise modalities depending on your perspective. This week we are talking about no win is too small. Meaning, even if you don’t touch your toes in forward fold, what have you learned about your body is invaluable!
Yin Yoga is an often overlooked way to practice yoga that helps you to do just that, spend time in your body and learning what works for you and what does not…yet! The key to yin yoga is time under tension. Once you get into a comfortably uncomfortable position, that’s where you hold. Support in this position is important to allow the body to relax and unwind the tension patterns built up in the connective tissue. It may not feel like you are doing a workout, but sitting in wide leg forward fold for 5 minutes is HUGE! It may look small, but you will find big wins. The same is true in most Yin postures. Try these beginner postures with enough support that you can sit comfortably uncomfortable for 4-5 minutes.
