When struggling to get though the day and motivate yourself to workout, setting little goals or finding little victories during your workout can be extra motivators for the next time you step into the gym. It is always a good idea to set a tiny goal for your workout that day. Adding a few extra reps, going for 5 extra minutes while doing cardio, or simply adding a few pounds to the bar. Little accomplishments are important to keep your motivation, and each victory should be celebrated.

If you are someone who sets big goals but feel like you’re not making any progress towards them, set smaller ones along the way. Tiny milestones can be a great way to keep you on track to your ultimate goal to lose 15 pounds. Something as simple as get to a point in your program that you can workout 3 days in the gym as compared to 2. If you are looking to lose 15-20 pounds, setting a milestone of 5 pounds can be a way to keep pushing yourself closer and closer to the finish line. Celebrate those accomplishments with a shopping spree, a night out at the movies, or whatever you enjoy that you will enjoy and will motivate you.

When the little victories happen, make room to acknowledge them. Whether it is noticing that you’re not breathing as hard while running or being able to add 5 pounds when squatting. Give yourself credit for the progress you’re making. If you are not trending downward your training, there is no need to beat yourself up. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
