Ankle Stability
There are so many bones, joints, ligaments and tendons in your feet and ankles. Remember, the feet are our firm foundation!
To keep all those moving parts strong and stable, there are a few things we can work into our regular day without spending more time in the gym.
- Brush your teeth-what? ha! Stand on one foot while you brush your teeth for at least 30 seconds. Switch feet for the second 30 seconds. Make it part of your day!
- Wash the dishes-Again….huh? While standing at the sink, bring one foot up into tree pose and see if you can balance while the hands are moving and scrubbing. For more challenge, keep moving and rotating the spine as you wash, rinse, and dry the dishes all while on one foot.
- Play “the floor is lava”-Kids love to pretend the floor is lava and jump from rug to rug or put pillows on the floor to leap from one safe spot to another. Play with your kids, your grandkids or just set up an challenge course for yourself. No special gym time or equipment needed.
